Lincoln University Recognizes Students for Outstanding Academic Achievements at Honors Convocation on Thursday, November 12, 2009 PDF Print E-mail

The keynote speaker is Bishop David G. Evans, a Lincoln graduate and new Chairman of the Board of Trustees, critically acclaimed and best-selling author, television and radio host.  The occasion also marks the first time the University holds an event in its new $26.1 million International Cultural Center.

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY – Lincoln University, which has earned a national reputation for its distinguished role in higher education, will recognize its undergraduate students for their high academic achievements at the annual Student Honors Convocation on Thursday, November 12, at 11 a.m., in the Theater of the International Cultural Center.

“Lincoln’s annual Honors Convocation recognizes some of the University’s outstanding students for their exceptional academic achievements and their exemplary dedication to hard work and high performance,” University President Ivory V. Nelson, Ph.D., said.  “We are also pleased that the first event in our new International Cultural Center recognizes the academic talents of our students.”

The event at Lincoln’s main campus in southern Chester County, PA, is being presented as a formal occasion with full academic regalia.  A reception for honored students, members of their family and other guests will be held at the Center immediately following the convocation.

Special recognition – the prestigious President's Award for Exemplary Achievement – will be given to students who accomplished a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 and above.  The Dean's Award will be presented to outstanding students with term GPAs of 3.30 through 3.99.  Honorable mention will be given to students with GPAs of 3.00 through 3.29.

David G. Evans – bishop, pastor, author, television and radio host, music producer, economist, businessman, banker and visionary – defies all the titles he has earned with distinction. He is a self-described man on a mission. He accepted the pastorate of a tiny church in New Jersey and in less than 20 years has transformed Bethany Baptist Church from 29 members into a 27,000-member congregation that boasts one of the more diversified memberships in the nation. Bishop Evans is author of the critically acclaimed 2005 book, Healed Without Scars, which sold over 400,000 copies.  His new book, Dare to be a Man, was released this fall. In addition, he has created five DVD teaching series and is seen worldwide every Sunday during “The Power of Revelation” television broadcast.  He also hosts a live, call-in radio show, “On Point,” every Saturday morning.

The Lincoln University International Cultural Center, consisting of 61,661 sq. ft., and constructed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at a cost of $26.1 million, houses a 1,049-seat theater, a seminar and conference office facility, an art gallery, and a reception hall.
